【摘要】:Activatedcarbonsusedingas-phaseadsorptionmaybesubjectedtoheating,eitherfromheatappliedexternallytothecarbonbed,orheatgeneratedbyradioactive4contaminants,orbytheadsorptionprocessitself.Iftheapplicationofheatissudden,orifnoamplemeanstoconducttheheatfromthecarbonbedexists,thecarbonbedmayignite.Thistestmethodprovidesacontrolledlaboratorytesttodeterminethetemperaturesatwhichsuchignitionoccurs.Asstatedin1.2,thisdoesnotnecessarilygivethetemperatureatwhichignitionwilloccurunderaspecificbedoperatingcondition.Thistestmethoddoes,however,allowsomerankingofcarbonswithregardtoignitiontemperature,andisausefulquality-controlmethodforunusedcarbons.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofreferenceignitiontemperatureofgranularactivatedcarboninflowingair.Thistestmethodprovidesabasisforcomparingtheignitioncharacteristicsofdifferentcarbons,orthechangeinignitioncharacteristicsofthesamecarbonafteraperiodofservice.1.2Theignitiontemperatureasdeterminedbythistestmethodcannotbeinterpretedastheprobableignitiontemperatureofthesamecarbonundertheoperatingconditionsofaspecificapplicationunlessthoseconditionsareessentiallythesameasthoseinthistestmethod.Ifitisdesiredtodeterminetheignitiontemperatureofthecarbonunderaspecificsetofoperatingconditions,thetestmaybemodifiedtosimulatesuchconditions,takingintoconsiderationthefollowingvariables:(1)airflowrate;(2)moisturecontentofthecarbon;(3)beddepth;(4)relativehumidityoftheairstream;(5)heatingrate;(6)contaminants(forexample,hydrocarbons,etc.)intheairstream;and(7)contaminantsthatmayhavebeenadsorbedbythecarbonunderpriorserviceconditions.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection.
